Jill Conner Browne's new book, "American Thighs" was released this month. The Sweet Potato Queen has dedicated her new book to Smokey Davis. This would have been one of his proudest moments. How many people have a REAL book dedicated them, and only them? Just Smokey. How many people are remembered only by their close friends and family once they have been laid to rest. Strangers all over the world will wonder who this Smokey Davis character was. I got my copy Monday at Barnes & Noble, and cried when I actually saw it. I am only through the first three chapters, but it is laugh out loud (in the middle of the ob-gyn waiting room) funny. From now on when trying to convince to someone of how cold it is outside, I will say, "I froze my japonica off".
